AFJと中国現代国際関係研究院（CICIR）は7月中旬に北京において第21回日中シンポジウムを開催します。

China Institute for Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) and AFJ will hold the 21st Japan-China Symposium in Beijing next month.

Asian Forum Japan (AFJ) holds a workshop with conservative intellectuals including Mr. John Fund of the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Ramesh Ponulu of the National Review, Republican Chief Economist for House Energy Committee Mr. Ike Brannon, and syndicated columnists Messrs. 日米安全保障改定50周年を記念し、アメリカの安全保障政策関係者等を招いた昼食懇談会をハドソン研究所と共同開催しました。

In commemoration of 50th anniversary of the renewal of the Japan-US Security Treaty, Asian Forum Japan (AFJ) and Hudson Institute hold a luncheon meeting with US national security specialists and former high-ranking government officials, including Ambassador Tom Foley, Former Attorney General Mr. Michael Mukasey, Former DOD Executive Mr. Richard Parle, Former Under Sec. of Defense Mr. Douglas Feith. AFJ also has meetings respectively with Honorable John Kyl, US Senate Minority Whip, and Mr. Stuart Levey, Under Sec. of Treasury.

アメリカを代表する民間研究開発機関であるSRI International（バージニア州アーリントン）を訪問し、 副社長兼ワシントンオフィス所長のジェリー・ハリソン（Jerry Harrison）退役将軍らとのミーティングを実施しました。

AFJ Director of Research Katsuhiko Nakamura publishes his essay, “Japanese Diplomacy and the Role of Policy Intellectuals: The Significance of the Birth of the DPJ Hatoyama Administration” in the Jeju Peace Institute’s newsletter, JPI Peace Net.

中村研究部長は、政治主導を標榜する鳩山政権の誕生により、従来の日本政治において官僚が担ってきた「政策知識人（ポリシー・インテレクチュアル）」としての役割も終焉を迎えつつある一方で、それに代わる政策知識人を生み出せないことが鳩山外交の不安定さに繋がっていると指摘。>> 全文表示

社団法人アジアフォーラム・ジャパン（AFJ）は、ペンシルベニア大学の『世界有力シンクタンク調査』で今回も高く評価され、日本で2位、アジアでは18位にランクされました。

Asian Forum Japan (AFJ) is placed 2nd among 108 Japanese think tanks, and 18th among more than 1000 Asian think tanks in the latest 'Global "Go-To Think Tanks" ' survey. The survey, launched by Dr. James G. McGann at the University of Pennsylvania, is a comprehensive and authoritative ranking of the world's leading think tanks. AFJ has been ranked in the survey for the third year in a row.

今回の調査では、選考対象となるシンクタンクが昨年の約5000から6305（169カ国）へと大幅に増加しました。そうしたなか、AFJは3年連続のランクインを果たし、日本で調査対象となった108のシンクタンクのなかで2位、アジア地域1183のシンクタンクのうち18位にランクされました。>> 全文表示

茶谷展行主任研究員のオバマ政権の現状に関する分析が『週刊ダイヤモンド』（年末・年始合併号）に掲載されました。

Writing in the 2009 final issue of Shukan Daiyamondo (Weekly Diamond), Japan’s leading business magazine, AFJ Senior Research Fellow Nobuyuki Chatani points out the possibility of “conservatization” of the Obama administration.

2009年、AFJ日中プロジェクトの掉尾を飾る特別企画として、崔天凱（Cui Tiankai）駐日中国大使をお招きし、「AFJ特別午餐会」を開催しました。

The Honorable Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, joins to the AFJ Special Luncheon Seminar, the wrap-up event of the AFJ’s China Project 2009. For nearly two hours, Ambassador Cui and AFJ members frankly exchange opinions on the importance of the bilateral relations between China and Japan.

Three Japan specialists from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) lead AFJ’s latest Executive Seminar. CASS is China’s largest academic research organization in the fields of philosophy and social sciences.

元米国社会保障庁（SSA）長官代行のルイス・D. イノフ（Louis D. Enoff）氏を招いて、エグゼクティブ・セミナーを開催しました。

Social security expert, Louis D. Enoff leads AFJ’s latest Executive Seminar. Mr. Enoff previously served as Acting Commissioner at the Social Security Administration during both George HW Bush and Clinton administrations before directing US social security transition under George W Bush.

世界約5000のシンクタンクを対象としたペンシルバニア大学の有力シンクタンク調査研究プロジェクトで、AFJがアジア部門12位、日本では3位に選ばれました。

AFJ is ranked 3rd in Japan and 12th in Asia among leading public policy research organizations in the world by Pennsylvania University's 'Think Tank and Civil Societies' program.
